Krsna turns to Uddhava· Verses 45–47

श्रीभगवानुवाच ।त्वं हि नः परमं चक्षुः सुहृन्मन्त्रार्थतत्त्ववित् ।तथात्र ब्रूह्यनुष्ठेयं श्रद्दध्मः करवाम तत्
।
45Then, when those of his own party would not agree to it, wanting conquest first, Kesava smiled and spoke in well-shaped words to his servant Uddhava. 46Bhagavan said: You are our highest eye, our friend, one who knows what counsel truly means. So tell us what should be done here. We trust you, and we will do it. 47Invited in this way by his master, who knows everything and yet behaved like a man at a loss, Uddhava took the command on his head and answered.
