Praised in this way by the kings whose bonds were loosed, the Bhagavan, who is tender and is a refuge, spoke to them, dear one, in a smooth voice. Bhagavan said: Kings, from today a very firm devotion to me, the self, the lord of all, comes to birth in you. It is exactly as you have wished; be sure of it. It is good fortune, kings, that you have resolved on this and that you speak the truth. I see how the swelling pride of wealth and lordship drives men out of their senses. The Haihaya, Nahusa, Vena, Ravana, Naraka and others, lords of gods and Daityas and men, were thrown down from their place by the pride of fortune.

Knowing this, that the body and the rest are made things and have an end, worship me, hold to the rites, and guard your people by dharma. Spinning out the threads of your line, taking happiness and unhappiness, coming to be and ceasing to be, as each of them arrives, you will go about with your minds on me. Standing apart from the body and the rest, taking your pleasure in the self, holding to your vows, setting your minds fully in me, you will come at the end to me, who am Brahman.
