28Then for a moment he who knows himself stayed overcome in his human nature, held there by love of his own people. Then that great one knew it for a demons' illusion, loosed by Salva and made by Maya. 29Awake now in the fight, the Unfallen saw no messenger there and no body of his father, as one sees nothing on waking from a dream. He looked at his enemy moving through the air in Saubha and set himself to kill him. 30Some sages say it this way, royal sage, and they are not consistent. What would contradict their own words, that, surely, they do not remember. 31Where are grief and bewilderment, or affection, or fear, all of which come of not knowing, and where is he whose discernment and knowledge and lordship are unbroken, who is himself unbroken?
32By knowledge of the self, made strong through service at his feet, men throw off the beginningless grip of taking the self for what it is not, and gain his own endless lordship. How then could there be confusion in the highest one, the goal of the good?
