7Goading Krsna in this way with hard words, as a driver goads an elephant with hooks, he struck him on the head with his mace and roared like a lion. 8Though struck by the mace in that fight, the foremost of the Yadus did not move; and Krsna struck him between the breasts with the heavy Kaumodaki. 9His heart split open by the mace, throwing up blood from his mouth, he fell to the ground without breath, his hair and arms and legs flung wide. 10Then a light finer than the finest, and wonderful to see, entered Krsna while all beings watched, king, as it had done when the Caidya was killed. 11But Viduratha, his brother, drowning in grief for his brother, came at him panting, with sword and shield, wanting to kill him.
12As he rushed in, Krsna took off his head with the razor-rimmed disc, best of kings, crown and earrings and all.
