29All the sages cried out in dismay, sick at heart, and said to the god Sankarsana: Lord, what you have done is a wrongdoing. 30We gave this man the brahmin's seat, joy of the Yadus, and long life, and freedom from weariness, for as long as the sacrifice lasts. 31Not knowing that, you have done what amounts to the killing of a brahmin. But for you, who are lord of yoga, not even the sacred texts are binding. 32Still, purifier of the worlds, if you will carry out the cleansing for the killing of a brahmin, though no one else can require it of you, it will hold the world together. 33Bhagavan said: I will carry out the atonement for this killing, wanting the good of the world. Lay down for me the observance, however long it runs, that the first rule prescribes.
34Long life for this man, and strength, and his senses too: tell me what was granted him, and I will bring it about by yogamaya. 35Let it be so arranged, Rama, that the word holds true of your weapon and of your strength, and of death, and of ourselves as well.
