Krsna had a friend, a certain brahmin who knew Brahman as well as any man, unattached to what the senses want, quiet in himself, his senses mastered. He kept a household and lived on whatever came to him unasked. His clothes were poor, and his wife was thin with hunger and in the same case as he was. Faithful to her husband, sinking and trembling, she came up to that poor man and spoke to him with the bloom gone out of her face: Brahmin, surely you are the friend of the Bhagavan, who is himself the husband of Sri, kind to brahmins and a refuge for whoever comes, the Bhagavan, the bull of the Satvatas. Go to him, greatly favoured one. He is the last resort of the good. He will give plenty of wealth to a householder like you, who is sinking under his family.

He is in Dvaravati now, the lord of the Bhojas and Vrsnis and Andhakas. To one who only remembers his lotus feet he gives even himself. What then would the teacher of the world not give, past all hoping, to one who comes to him wanting wealth and pleasure?
