When his consecration had begun, the Vrsnis wore lotus garlands, bathed and finely clothed, king, and the kings were richly adorned; and his queens, glad, with necklaces at their throats and finely clothed, anointed, with the vessels in their hands, came to the hall of the consecration. Drums and kettledrums, conches, horns and tabors sounded; players and dancing women danced; bards and heralds sang his praise; sweet-throated gandharva women sang together with their husbands. Him, rubbed with ointment and anointed, the priests sprinkled by rule, together with his eighteen wives, as the moon-king is sprinkled with the stars.

With them beside him in fine cloth and bracelets, in necklaces and anklets and earrings, well adorned, he shone, consecrated and wrapped in a deerskin. His priests, great king, in jewels and silk clothing, together with the men of the assembly, shone as those at the sacrifice of the slayer of Vrtra shone. Then Rama and Krsna, each attended by his own kin, shone with their own sons and wives: the two lords of the living, with their own splendours.
