Krsna had a brahmin, the best of them, known as Srutadeva, who by devotion to Krsna alone was full in his purpose, at peace, a seer, and not greedy. He lived among the Videhas, in Mithila, as a householder, carrying out his own works with what came to him without his asking. Only so much as keeps a man going came to him day by day as it fell out, and no more; content with that, he did the acts that were fitting. So too, dear one, the ruler of that country, known as Bahulasva, a Maithila, in whom there was no self-regard; and both of them were dear to the Unfallen. Well pleased with the two of them, the Bhagavan, the lord, mounted the chariot Daruka had brought and set out for the Videhas together with the sages.
