Entering as though as their cause into the strange wombs of your own making, you shine in a more and a less, like fire, being an imitation of what you have yourself made. Then in these, which are untrue, those whose thought is free of dust, who have given up all trafficking, follow after your abode, which is not untrue, which is the same throughout, of one taste. In these cities of your own making they call your Person, made of a part of you who hold all powers, one whose covering is neither outside nor within. Having so told apart the way of man, the seers, who put their trust here on earth, worship your foot, in which there is no becoming, the sowing-ground of the teaching.

You took on a body to make known the reality of the self, which is hard to come at. Some, whose weariness is turned about in the great deathless sea of your doings, do not long even for release, Lord, having let their houses go in the company of the flock of swans at your lotus feet. This nest goes along your path as though it were the self, a friend and a beloved; and yet, when you are turned toward them, you who are their good and their beloved and their self, they take no delight in you. Alas, they are killers of themselves by worshipping what is not real, and by the clinging that follows they wander bearing bad bodies, in a fear on both sides.

What sages worship in the heart, yoked in a firm yoga with breath and mind and senses stilled, that even your enemies reached by remembering; and the women reached it whose thought was caught on your arms, staves like the coils of the king of snakes. And we too are the same as they, seeing alike, for whom the nectar is your lotus feet.
