8When the overturning of the elements is near, time, which has neither beginning nor end, draws what is manifest, made as it is of substance and quality, away toward the unmanifest. 9A drought of a hundred years, and a fierce one, will come upon the earth, and the sun, its heat piled up by that time, will burn the three worlds. 10The fire from Sankarsana's mouth begins at the floor of Patala, and burning with its flame going upward, driven on by the wind, it grows out on every side. 11The cloud host of the great winding-up rained a hundred years, in streams thick as an elephant's trunk, and the vast body dissolved away in the water.
12Then, king, the Person of the vast form gives up the vast body and enters the unmanifest, the fine, as a fire does when it has nothing left to burn.
