41Tell us of the yoga of works, by which a person, made fit through it, shakes off works here quickly and finds the highest state, where there is no work left. 42I put this question to the sages before, in my father's presence, and the sons of Brahma gave no answer. Let the reason for that be told. 43Work, no work, wrong work: this is the Veda's own speech and not the speech of common men. And because the Veda has the Lord for its self, even the learned are bewildered there. 44This Veda speaks of what is out of sight; it is the teaching given to children. It lays down works for the sake of release from works, the way medicine is given.
45But a man who does not do what the Veda says, knowing nothing himself and not master of his senses, goes by wrong work and by wrongdoing to a death beyond death. 46One who does only what the Veda says, unattached, and lays it before the Lord, gains the perfection in which there is no work left. Hearing of a fruit is there to make the work look attractive.
