At the end of the age Narayana, the god, the Lord, drew back by a portion of time what he had made before by his own maya, and was one, without a second, holding himself up, the resting place of everything. When by time, which is his own working, the powers, clarity and the rest, had been brought level with one another, the first Person, the Lord of the ground and of the Person, highest of the high and the low, remains, and he is called Aloneness: a mass of bliss that is bare experience, with nothing laid over him. By that bare experience of himself he shakes his own maya, which is made of the three strands, and at the beginning he brings forth by it the thread, subduer of enemies.

They call it the showing forth of the three strands, and it creates facing every way. This whole world is woven upon it, and by it the Person goes round from birth to birth. As the spider spins its web out of its heart and through its mouth, plays with it, and swallows it back again, so does the great Lord.
