The strands act and the living one eats· Verses 31–34

The strands bring works into being, and strand goes on bringing forth strand; but the living one, joined to the strands, eats the fruits of the works. So long as the strands are uneven, so long is there manyness for the self; and so long as there is manyness for the self, just so long it stands under another's hand. So long as it is not its own master, so long there is fear from the Lord. Those who keep serving this are bewildered and given over to grief. When the strands are stirred together, they speak of me in many ways: as time, as the self, as scripture, as the world, as one's own nature, and as dharma.
