So a man turned away in this manner, in lying down and sitting and walking and bathing, in seeing, touching, smelling, eating, hearing and the rest, is not bound as the other is. Knowing, he lets the strands take their food here and there, and though he stands in Nature he is not stuck to it, as the sky and the sun and the wind are not. His doubt cut through by the skilled look that not clinging has sharpened, he turns back from manyness, like a man waked out of a dream. The one in whom the workings of breath and senses and mind and thought are free of all willing is set loose from the qualities of the body, even while he is standing in one.

Whether his body is hurt by those who hurt, or is honoured somewhere by someone as it happens, the man who knows is not put out of his way by either.
