When this bondage to the round of birth is there, which gives the self the working of the strands, let him stand in me, the fourth, and let it go; and that is the giving up of the strands and of the minds that go with them. The bondage that I-making makes turns the good of the self on its head. Knowing it and turning away, let him stand in the fourth and let go the worrying over the round of birth. So long as a man's thought of many things does not turn back by the ways that suit it, the man who does not know is asleep even while he wakes, as one wakes inside a dream. Since things other than the self have no being, the difference they make, and the goings and the causes that come of it, are false, like what a man sees in a dream.

He who in waking eats with all his instruments the outward things that change from moment to moment, and in dream eats their likenesses inside the heart, and in deep sleep draws them all in, is one; and by the run of remembrance he is the seer of the workings of the three strands, the lord of the senses. Weigh it so, and be sure that the three states of the mind, which come from the strands, were made in me by my maya. Then cut through the heart's distress of all doubt with the sharp sword of knowledge, honed on reasoning and the words of the good, and serve me.
