Lift him out of the hole· Verses 7–10

Uddhava, the threefold change that takes hold in you is maya falling in between; it is not there at the beginning nor at the release. Since birth and the rest belong to this body, what should they be to you? A thing that is not there at the beginning and the end is just that in the middle too. Tell out this knowledge, clear and wide, the ancient teaching, joined to detachment and full knowing; and the yoga of devotion to you, which the great go searching for, lord of the world, whose form is the world. For one struck by the three burnings and scorched on the dread road of becoming, Lord, I see no shelter but the parasol of your two feet, which rains down the deathless.

This man has fallen into this hole and been bitten by the snake of time, with a huge thirst on him for small pleasures. Lift him out in pity, great one, and pour over him words that carry him to release.
