Clean, with his materials gathered, his seat laid with darbha grass pointing east, seated facing east or north, let him worship, or else facing the image. Having set the syllables on himself and on my image, let him wipe the image with his hand, and set out the water jar and the sprinkling vessel as they should be. With that water let him sprinkle the place of the sacrifice, the materials, and himself as well; and let him prepare three vessels with water and with the several things. Three vessels, for water for the feet, water for the guest, and water for sipping, the one who guides should charge with mantras: with the heart, with the head, with the topknot, and with the Gayatri.

In the body, made clean by wind and fire, let him meditate on that highest, minute portion of the living being which is mine, seated in the lotus of the heart, which the perfected reach at the end of the sound. When the body is filled with that, which has become his self, let him worship, being made of it; and having called me in and set me in the image and the rest, and placed the limbs, let him worship me fully.
