Having set up an image of me, let him have a firm temple built, and pleasant flower gardens for the worship, the processions and the festivals. So that the worship and the rest may go on flowing, on the great festival days and daily, let him give fields, shops, towns and villages; then he comes to a state equal with mine. By setting up an image he comes to rule the whole earth; by a temple, to the three worlds; by the worship and the rest, to the world of Brahma; and by all three, to being like me. But it is by the yoga of devotion, with nothing wanted, that a man finds me alone; and whoever worships me in this way gains the yoga of devotion.

Whoever takes away the living given by himself, or given by others, to the gods and to the brahmins, is born an eater of dung for ten thousand times ten thousand years. The doer, and the one who drives, and the one who sets it going, and the one who approves it as well, all share in the works when they have gone; and where the share is greater, the fruit of it is greater.
