Whose is the round of birth?· Verses 6–11

6The self alone is this whole world. The master makes it and is made; the self of all guards it and is guarded; the Lord carries it off and is carried off. 7So no state has been shown to be other than the self, which is other than all else. This shining, of three kinds and with no root, has been shown to be in the self. Know this thing of three kinds, made of the strands, to be made by maya. 8One who knows this that I have said, skilled in knowing and in knowing fully, neither blames nor praises; he goes about in the world like the sun. 9By what is before the eyes, by inference, by the sacred word, and by his own awareness of the self, having known it to be unreal and to have a beginning and an end, let him go about here clinging to nothing.
10The round of birth belongs neither to the self nor to the body, to the seer nor to the seen, to what is not self nor to what is its own light. Lord, whose can it be? And yet it is met with. 11The self does not waste away, is beyond the strands, is pure, is its own light, and is covered by nothing; it is like fire, and the body, like wood, has no awareness. Whose then is the round of birth here?
