whoever among brahmins, merchants, kshatriyas and sudras is strongest will be king. And the people, their wives and their goods torn from them by greedy princes with no pity in them, who go on like bandits, will make off to the hills and the forests, living on greens, roots, meat, honey, fruit, flowers and seeds. They will be destroyed by drought, worn down by famine and by taxes. Cold, wind, sun, the rains and frost, and one another, and hunger and thirst and sicknesses, will burn the people, and worry will burn them too. Twenty or thirty years is the longest a man lives in the Kali age.
