That light of Visnu the Bhagavan, the one called Krsna, went to heaven. Then the Kali entered the world, in which people take their pleasure in wrong. As long as Fortune's lord stayed here, touching the ground with his lotus feet, the Kali could not stride out over the earth. When the seven sages of the gods are moving through the Maghas, then the Kali sets in, made up of twelve hundred years. When the great sages go from the Maghas to Purvasadha, then, beginning with Nanda, this Kali will come into its growth. On the very day that Krsna went to heaven, on that day the Kali age set in. So those who know the old accounts say.
