Fire in the gold· Verses 45–48

The faults the Kali makes in a man, which come out of things and places and himself, the Bhagavan, the best of Persons, standing in the mind, takes away, every one. Heard, praised aloud, held in the mind, worshipped, or only so much as honoured, the Bhagavan standing in the heart shakes out of men the ill of ten thousand births. As fire in gold burns out the bad colour that came with the ore, so Visnu, come into the self, burns out of yogins what lies in them and is not good. The inner self does not come to so complete a cleanness by learning, austerity, holding the breath, friendship, bathing at fords, vows, giving and muttered prayer, as it does when the Bhagavan, who has no end, is standing in the heart.
