17The dissolution that comes of an occasion, the one that belongs to Nature, the constant one and the last one: the settling, the poets say, is of four kinds for it, by its own nature. 18The cause of the sending out of this and of the rest is the living one, who makes works out of not-knowing; and some call him the one who lies down after, and others what is undivided. 19That Brahman is the resting place, whose absence and presence run through waking, dreaming and deep sleep, which are made of maya and are the workings of the living one: 20as substance is in the things that words name, and bare being in the shapes and the names, and is joined and not joined to the states from the seed to the going back to the five.
21When the mind comes to a stop, letting go the three workings of itself, or else by yoga, then it knows the self and turns back from its bustling about.
