That hermitage ground was holy, graced with holy trees and vines, thick with flocks of holy birds, and its pools were holy and clear. Bees drunk with honey sang there together, drunken cuckoos called, drunken peacocks made their dancers' display, and flocks of drunken birds filled the place. The wind came in, taking up spray from the icy falls, and blew there in the arms of the flowers, propping Desire up. With the face of a night whose moon is rising, with clusters of new shoots and rows of bees, with sheltering thickets of trees and vines, the flowering season was there. Followed by troops of gandharvas with their singing and their instruments, Desire appeared, his bow and arrows taken up, herd-lord of the women of heaven.

Indra's servants saw him seated after his offering into the fire, his eyes closed, not to be assailed, like fire itself given a body.
