In plain words

Āṇṭāḷ, to the cuckoo: Cuckoo, who live in the grove where bright shining bees hum, listen to this carefully: I have been caught in a snare called Śrīdhara [Lakṣmī's lord], whose colour is the green parrot's. Call him who bears the conch and the discus to come, or bring back my golden bangles and give them to me: if you mean to go on living in this grove, you must surely do one of the two.
