In plain words
My hajj is on the bank of the Gomatī, where Pītāmbar the Pīr has his house. Wāh, wāh, how beautifully he sings. The name of Hari is what my mind loves. *(refrain)* Nārad and Sārad wait on him hand and foot. Bībī Kavalā sits at his side, his serving maid. A rosary at my throat, Rām on my tongue. I take up the thousand names, again and again, and make my salām. Says Kabīr, I sing the praises of Rām. Hindu and Turk, I bring the two of them to understand. *pītāmbar*, the one in yellow silk, a name for Kṛṣṇa; *pīr*, the Muslim word for a master.
