In plain words
We are the poor, the servants of Khudā; your mind is taken with lordship. Allah is the First, the Master of the dīn, and he commands no violence. Qāzī, what you are saying will not do. *(refrain)* You keep the fast, you offer the *nivāj*, you say the *kalmā*: paradise does not come of it. Seventy Kaʿbas are inside the body itself, if only a man knew it. The nivāj is to weigh what is just; the kalmā is to know with the understanding. Rob the five, then spread the prayer mat: that is when a man knows the dīn. Know your Master, keep pity inside you, kill your pride and leave it without savour. Know yourself, and then know another, and you will have a share in paradise. The clay is one, and it puts on many costumes; in it I have recognised Brahm. Says Kabīr, I have let paradise go, and my mind is content with hell. *nivāj*, the namāz, the prayer said at its appointed hours; *kalmā*, the words that declare the faith.
