In plain words
O great fruit of compassion, ripened and mellowed with grace! O sea of nectar for your servants, of bliss never sated and love never ending! O dweller at Kazhumalam, where the golden crests of the tall mansions and gateway towers tear open the bellies of the rain clouds! O supreme yogi, seated with your maiden, a sight without flaw, whose young breasts have not ripened! I shall tell you one thing, my father. Long ago you willed that all the worlds, the endless wombs and everything should appear. From that day, through so very many wombs, in differences beyond thought, there is no one and nothing that has not come to me, one by one, as mother and as father. And there is none to whom I have not come as father and as mother. There is no ground where I was not born before, and no ground there where I did not die. Besides, there are no creatures that have not eaten me, and none that I left uneaten. All the time has gone just so. Beyond this, have I not grown weary through and through? I, a dog, have not even practised the discipline of reciting your five letters, the light that never fades. Nor have I kept company with those who practised that discipline. Even so, taking what I offered at whatever moment I could as a flower, and what I said as a mantra, to guard even me, so that I do not fall into the sea of the two called painful birth and death, is your duty.
Line by line
O great fruit of compassion, ripened and mellowed with grace, of insatiable bliss, of unending love, O sea of nectar for the servants; of long-standing mansions and gateway towers, the golden crests that tear the bellies of the rain clouds, O dweller at Kazhumalam; your flawless sight, of unripe young breasts, seated with the maiden, O supreme yogi, I shall make one thing known, my father. Long ago, all the worlds and the endless wombs and everything, from the day you willed them to appear, through so many wombs, in differences beyond thought, anyone and anything, to me, one by one, becoming mothers and becoming fathers, there is none who has not come. I, to them, becoming fathers and becoming mothers, there is none where I did not come. Before, there is no ground where I was not born; there, there is no ground where I did not die. Besides, there are no creatures either that did not eat me; I, them, there is none I gave up without eating. All the time indeed has gone. I, beyond this, any more, have I no way to grow weary? I, a dog, the unfading light, your five letters, reciting, the discipline I have not even practised; that discipline those who practised it, I have not kept company with either. Even so, at whatever time it was possible, what I placed as a flower, what I said as a mantra: me too, of the two called painful birth and death, so that I do not fall into the sea, guarding me is your duty.
