In plain words

I praised Kanchi's Ēkampar and thought of him. How could I ever have known that the infatuation he works would come so much? Before the dawn, while his son's cock, the bird he keeps, cries out so much in the cruel night that will not dawn, he took all these snakes, to make them dance in the courtyards of women.

Line by line

Praising, as I thought of him, the infatuation Kanchi's Ēkampar works, that its coming is so much, where did I know? before, his son's ward, the cock, crying out so much; cruel, in the night that does not dawn, all these snakes he took, to make them dance in the courtyards of women indeed.
