In plain words

The poet, to those who seek him: You who are searching in earnest for the resplendent one who tore out the tusks of the killer elephant [Kuvalayāpīḍa], fought the army of his foes [the demons of Janasthāna] till it was destroyed, and with his bow shot through the [seven] marā trees: there are those who saw him there, seated in state on the wave-filled seashore, as the hosts of monkeys carried great mountains on their heads and dammed the sea.
