In plain words
The poet, to the Lord: As one sets gold on the touchstone and rubs it to learn its colour, so I have taken you onto my tongue and rubbed you there till your fineness was lost. I have taken you and set you within me, and I have placed myself in you [as yours], O my father, my Hṛṣīkēśa [master of my senses], guardian of my life.
