In plain words
The poet, to the people of the world: One rides the bull, the other the bird [Garuḍa]; one burned the forts [the three cities], the other tore open a chest [Hiraṇya's]; one is smeared with ash, the other has the cool hue of a sapphire; one keeps a woman [Pārvatī] as half his body, the other has the lady of the flower [Śrī]; one has long matted locks, the other a tall crown; one bears the Gaṅgā, the other has the long feet she flows from. The second is the protector, and the first is held in his keeping.
