Jamadagni
Jamadagni of the line of Bhṛgu was the son of the sage Ṛcīka and of Satyavatī, the elder sister of Viśvāmitra, who was born a king and became a brahmin seer, and the father of Rāma of the axe, Paraśurāma. He was a brahmin to whom the whole science of the bow came of itself. When his wife Reṇukā came back late from fetching his arrows because the sun had burned her head and feet, he drew his bow against the Sun, until the Sun came to him as a brahmin and gave him an umbrella and sandals. The sons of King Kārtavīrya killed him in his hermitage as he called out his son's name.
