Lopāmudrā

Lopāmudrā was made by a seer and born a princess of Vidarbha. She chose to marry Agastya when no other man dared to ask for her, gave up her royal clothes for bark and deerskin, and lived beside him in austerity. When the time came for a child, she named her own terms and held to them, and she asked for one son worth a thousand. Her own voice is heard in a hymn of the Ṛgveda, the Veda of sacred hymns.
