Her Name Remembered

Lopāmudrā went with Agastya when he went to the south, from which he never came back.

When the princess Śāntā served her husband, the seer Ṛśyaśṛṅga, in the forest, she served him with love, as Arundhatī served Vasiṣṭha, as Lopāmudrā served Agastya, as Damayantī served Nala and as Śacī served Indra.

In the old lines of the kings of Kāśī, a verse was sung about Alarka, one of those kings: that he lived for sixty-six thousand years, young and beautiful, and that he gained that long life by the grace of Lopāmudrā.

And when Hayagrīva, the horse-necked form of Viṣṇu, taught Agastya the mantras of the Goddess Lalitā, he called the sage Lopāmudrā's husband, and he told him that of all the mantras of Lalitā two are the greatest, the kings of mantras. One of those two mantras is called Kāmarāja. The other is called Lopāmudrā.
