The poet, to the people of the world: Nārāyaṇa created the four-faced one [Brahmā], and he in turn, himself standing as the chief, created Śaṅkara. Just so I, standing as the chief myself, have set this deep truth in an antāti and made it known. Weigh it well, all of you, and hold it fast without letting any of it slip.
