In plain words

The poet, to the people of the world: In the ancient field of this world, where the Lord who subdued the bulls [for Nappiṉṉai] himself labours as the farmer of our devotion, must we sow even the seed of our own effort? We need not. Meanwhile the rain-laden cloud, standing before us, shows us the holy form of dark Māl, like a dark cloud that masses and rises, and by that likeness we sustain ourselves.
