The poet, asked why he sings of no one else: Song and measured verse, the ancient epics, the purāṇas of many meanings, fire compounded of the elements, the vast sky, the law of Manu heard in the Vedas, and the four Vedas handed down by hearing: all these are realities that came into being by the will of the wondrous Lord.
