In plain words
The poet, to the Lord: O wondrous one, whom none can reach but by your grace! The way out of the whirlpool of birth and its great sorrows, the truth and the means the Veda teaches, is what the base, proud of their learning, have kept hidden. Grant me devotion to your feet, so hard to gain: the vessel that carries even such as them up to the far shore.
