The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 18

In plain words

What belongs to a snake's discarded skin does not touch the snake itself. In the same way, the changing conditions of the gross and subtle coverings do not touch the Self.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as purity and similar conditions arising in a snake's cast skin would not affect the snake, so conditions arising in the gross body and the like do not affect this Self.
