The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 68

In plain words

One copper can take on many names and forms without ceasing to be copper. In the same way, the one Self seems divided into Īśvara, jīva and other distinctions, though the division itself is only an appearance.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as one substance of copper may appear in forms distinguished as though they were different entities, so this one Self falsely appears as Īśvara, jīva and the like.
