The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 69

यथेश्वरादिनाशेन ताम्रनाशो न विद्यते ।तथेश्वरादिनाशेन नाशो नैवात्मनः सदा ॥ ६७ ॥

In plain words

Break the copper image of Īśvara, and the copper is not broken. In the same way, Īśvara and all the rest may be destroyed, and the ātman is not destroyed at all — not ever.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as, by the destruction of the Īśvara-form and the rest, destruction of the copper is not found, so too, by the destruction of Īśvara and the rest, there is no destruction at all of the Self, ever.
