The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 9

एकोऽपि द्वयवद्भाति यथाकाश उपाधितः ।एकोऽपि द्वयवत्पूर्णस्तथात्मायमुपाधितः ॥ ७ ॥

In plain words

One, and yet it shows up as two — the way space does, once an upādhi, some limiting frame, stands in it. One, and full, and yet it shows up as two: so it is with this Self of yours, under an upādhi.

Close to the Sanskrit

Though one, it appears as if twofold, just as space does, because of a limiting adjunct. Though one and full, so does this Self, because of a limiting adjunct.
