In plain words

Iron becomes gold the instant it touches the philosopher's stone. Gutter water turns pure the moment it joins Gaṅgā. So if this heart of mine — soaked through with sin after sin — clings to you in love, how could it not turn pure?

Close to the Sanskrit

As iron, upon contact, at once attains the state of gold; as street-water becomes pure when merged with the flood of Gaṅgā — so, if my heart, exceedingly stained by this sin and that, becomes attached to you with love, how indeed would it not become stainless?
