In plain words
You have bathed at tīrthas beginning with the Gaṅgā — what of it? You have given sixteen gifts — what of it? You have recited mantras by the crore — what of it, if you never once came face to face with your own Ātma?
Close to the Sanskrit
Having bathed at a tīrtha, beginning with the Gaṅgā and the rest — from that, what? A gift has been given, sixteen in number — from that, what? Mantras have even been recited by crores — from that, what? — for one by whom his own Ātma was not at all directly realized.
