The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Aparokṣānubhūtiḥ

Verse 69

In plain words

A clay pot is nothing but clay — and this body, in truth, is nothing but consciousness. This whole business of splitting reality into 'Self' and 'not-Self'? Even the so-called wise are just doing that for nothing.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as a pot is made of clay, so too the body, indeed, is made of consciousness. This division into Self and non-Self is made merely in vain by the wise.
