The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Aparokṣānubhūtiḥ

Verse 74

In plain words

Timber — and he settles it: "house." Iron — and he settles it: "sword." That is the bewildered man's verdict. And the ātman he settles the same way: "body."

Close to the Sanskrit

Pieces of wood, precisely as house-ness; iron, precisely as sword-ness — thus has it been settled by the utterly bewildered one; likewise Selfhood, as body-ness.
