The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Aparokṣānubhūtiḥ

Verse 8

In plain words

Devotion to what scripture says and what your teacher says — that goes by the name śraddhā, faith. And the mind gathered to a single point, held on the Real and nothing else — that is what tradition calls samādhāna.

Close to the Sanskrit

Devotion in the words of scripture and of the teacher is widely known as śraddhā; but one-pointedness of mind upon the real goal is declared to be samādhāna.
