In plain words
Turning the mind back from everything the senses run after — that is uparati, complete withdrawal, and it is called supreme. Bearing every sorrow that comes, all of it, without flinching — that is titikṣā, and it is counted among the good.
Close to the Sanskrit
The turning-away from sense objects — that indeed is supreme uparati. The bearing of all sorrows — that is held to be auspicious titikṣā.
