The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Ātmabodhaḥ

Verse 16

पंचकोशादियोगेन तत्तन्मय इव स्थितः ।शुद्धात्मा नीलवस्त्रादियोगेन स्फटिको यथा ॥ १५ ॥

In plain words

Through its contact with the five sheaths and all the rest, it seems to be made of each of them in turn. But the ātman is pure — the way a crystal is pure, taking on the blue of the cloth laid under it.

Close to the Sanskrit

By association with the five sheaths and the rest, it abides as if made of this one and that one; the pure Self — just as a crystal, by contact with blue cloth and the like.
